Life
in Xi'an
Our
college is based in Xi'an which is the capital of the Shaanxi
Province. Xi'an is situated in the central part of Weihe Plain
- with the Weihe River in the north and the Qinling Rangs in
the south.
As one of China's seven ancient national capitals (it was
originally known as Chang'an) Xi'an has a wealth of precious
relics and historical sites. It has served as the capital of
12 dynasties over 1,000 years and more than 4,000 historical
sites and tombs have been excavated whilst over 120,000 historical
relics remain unearthed.

In ancient times Xi'an was the starting point of the Old Silk
Road that extended from Asia to Europe and played an important
role in cultural interflow between the East and West.
Today's city is smaller than the present Chinese Capital
of Beijing and moves at a slower pace - trees lend colour to
most streets and it retains an almost 'mystical' charm.
Due to the large number of Universities throughout Xi'an -
teachers and students of all races and nationalities are welcomed
- the people of China are amongst the friendliest in the world
- people are keen to swap cultures and knowledge with the Western
world.
