Chinese culture is in stark contrast to that of Western expectations with no single word to describe it. With much emphasis placed upon its traditional values, a strong communtiy spririt exists within society binding itself together. Once beneath the layered exterior, one cannot help but open their eyes to a new way of life.

As for the city of Xi'an, this has to be one of the most beautiful cities in China. Renown for being home to the Terracotta warriors, it has plenty more to offer its visitors from the untouched beauty of the countryside to the urban buzz that surrounds the inner city. A popular tourist destination for those interested in its historical background yet it is the other aspects that will draw you closer to the city life itself.

In terms of the teaching side of things, this plays an equally important role in the overall experience in China. Since many of the students have never been outside of China before, a foreign teacher presents them with an ideal opportunity to learn about UK culture as well as the English language itself. Though sometimes with teaching in particular, one may have some tough days at work however it is very much part of the learning experience and will improve your skills as a teacher.

At the end of the day, it must be said that there are good and bad things about any experience but if you are willing to make the most of the opportunity then it can be very rewarding indeed.
